Dubai is a glamorous place with many fancy buildings and skyscrapers. However, nothing comes close to the Burj Al Arab. This self proclaimed 7 star hotel stands in a class of its own. There is no other hotel or building like it in the world. The Burj al Arab is an iconic hotel built along the Dubai coastline. It took 6 years to build on a man made island and cost countless millions of dollars.

The spectacular hotel has been designed to resemble the sails of an Arabic dhow. Every facet of the hotel was carefully designed and developed to make it one of the most opulent buildings in the world. The hotel is located on the man made island along the Dubai coastline and connected to the mainland by a curving causeway.

The Burj al Arab is majestic, not only in size, beauty, and opulence but also in its service.  The hotel is surrounded by luxury. For the guests who arrive via the international airport, they can be ferried across the town in a helicopter. The helicopter pad is located on one of the upper floors of the hotel. For the mere mortals who are budget conscious, there are private chauffeurs with Rolls Royce or BMW to drive you around. There is nothing that is not available at the Burj Al Arab. Jutting out at about 200 meters in the sky is also an outdoor tennis court.

The walls of the exterior are coated with special Teflon which makes the hotel look brilliant during the day and takes on a completely different color at night. The exterior of the building is also lit with a variety of color full lights which constantly change.

The interior of the hotel is hard to describe. Opulence and luxury is everywhere. Every inch of the hotel has been built with the most expensive materials.

Even though gigantic in size, the hotel has a modest number of suites. All of the 202 rooms have their own private reception and butler. The service is provided 24 hours a day. Each room is elegantly decorated and has all the latest the electronic gadgetry, including a large 56” flat HD TV (after paying $1000 a night, it would be a surprise if any of the guests come to the hotel just to watch TV). The service in and around the hotel is second to none. Butlers will provide you with round the clock service and pay attention to all your whims and wants.

If you are hungry and still have money to spare, the hotel has some of the most expensive restaurants inside. The sea food restaurant, The Oyster, is locate next to the aquarium provides an unforgettable romantic view. The Sky View bar provides a breath taking view at 200 meters above the sea. There are also other restaurants located all over the hotel which have cuisine to satisfy every taste.

The cost for a single day starts at $1000 if you can get a room. The royal suites go for $28,000 a night and are not always available.

Even though the hotel caters to the rich and famous, anyone with money can go. And don’t worry if you do not have a camera- all the other guests will most likely be taking pictures of you (thinking you are a big shot).
